Cairo was the capital for over a thousand years. Today, however, a completely new capital is being created. It is being built approximately 45 kilometers from the original one, the name is not yet clear. The goal is to escape overcrowding, traffic jams and smog. In 2030, the government will move here, along with five million residents.

A lot of important discoveries come from Egypt, such as paper, a key or even toothpaste, but would you ever think that they were able to develop a prosthetic limb as early as 950 BC? It was a toe made of leather, wood and yarn.

The calendar in the form we know it to this day, i.e. divided into 12 months and 365 days, also comes from here.

If you were to unravel one of the famous Egyptian mummies, the length of the bandages used would exceed one and a half kilometers.

Ancient Egyptian women had surprisingly wide rights. They could own and sell property, enter into contracts, but also divorce and remarry, with a prenuptial agreement being very common, guaranteeing women that they would not lose their wealth if they married.

When a cat died, the Egyptians shaved their eyebrows as a sign of mourning. If an Egyptian killed a cat by accident, he faced the death penalty.

It only rains six days a year in Egypt. The ideal time to visit is between October and April, when average daily temperatures are around 26 degrees and the Red Sea water is around 23 degrees.
